Objectives of the activity

To raise young people awareness about importance of remembrance culture and foster young people’s commitment to be involved in democratic processes and the Peace Movement. Young people coming from different rural areas of Georgia, gathered online to learn about concepts & methods of non-formal learning, living library method and importance of storytelling, how our experience can be very useful and inspiration for others to become more active citizen. To empower young people to be actively engaged in shaping the society they live in and defending peace and to become more active citizens.

 

Descriptions of the activity

Training of Living library method. Trainer explained the method, how to prepare and plan activity step by step, how to choose topic, key elements of storytelling. Participants made practical workshop and simulation of storytelling too, which was directly linked to the activity objectives and topics of remembrance culture and youth participation, on the example of project manager Giorgi Agirbaia, founder of Proactive Group Georgia, whose origin’s comes from Abkhazia, Georgia (temporary occupied) and faced war in August, 2008 in Georgia. He has been “living book” in back 2015 as well, in one of the partner organization project. once Participants listened the story of Giorgi and his family, how war influenced him during the teenage and what inspired him to work on civil society important, promoting European values, democracy and working on youth empowerment with fellow team members, how was the road of newly established organization, which in a short time becomes one of the leading proactive NGO in Georgia.
